SHONE, J.H. (EDITED WITH A MEMOIR BY)
Manuscript Proof of "Some Letters of Archibald Campbell of Kilberry"
1973, 1st Edition (as such). Sliding Binding, Small Quarto. Author's Presentation Copy, ? Proof of Shone's "Some Letters of Archibald Campbell". 79+p in card wrapper; tiltled in longhand (MS Copy No.2). Typewritten text with a number of handwritten annotations which have been photocopied from an earlier draft and are not fresh. The annotations would appear to be the draft for the Editors Notes" which are frequent in the final;printed edition at the foot of many pages. There are one or two photocopied plates but illustrations are incomplete and no evidence of the cartoons in the published version. This draft seems to contain at least one letter ( from MacPhail dated 1949 at Camrbridge) which is not printed in the published book. Likely a proof copy - inside front card cover is written in ink "~In gratitude to "JB". - almost certainly this is Pipe Major J.B.Robertson who is illustrated in the book and writes the preface. Covers a little nmarked - and pages held with a platic sprung spine binder. See scans. Very Good.

THORNBER, IAIN
The Cameron Collection: Moidart and Arisaig in the 19th Century. An Album of Photographs by Christian Cameron (1859 - 1941)
Scotland, Published By Author. 2007, 1st Edition. (ISBN: 0955627907). Illustrated Card Covers, Oblong 6" x 9". A 48p privately printed album of 19th century photographs of Moidart and Arisaig taken by Christian Cameron of Inverailort (1859-1941) with a foreword by Donald Cameron of Lochiel, 27th Chief of Clan Cameron. Christian Cameron was the grand daughter of Maj-Gen Sir Alexander Cameron KCB, one of the Duke of Wellington's most distinguished soldiers. When he retired, seriously wounded in the neck by a bullet from Waterloo, he bought the wild and romantic Inverailort Estate (known as 'Clanranald's Deer Forest') on the world famous Road to the Isles in the Western Highlands of Scotland. Here Christian stalked deer, fished for salmon and sailed among the many lochs and estuaries. She entertained on a grand scale, bred and promoted West Highland Terriers and Norwegian Elk Hounds at Crufts and captured it all through the lens of her whole-plate, field camera making her one of the earliest woman photographers to work on the West Coast of Scotland. Her photographs, mostly taken in the 1880s-90s and published here for the first time, not only record a way of life long since gone but are technically brilliant, beautifully composed and considerable works of art. Forty-seven of them are included in this book. See scans. Very Good/No Jacket.
