Victorian Album with sepia plates pasted in - (mostly 4 1/2" x 7 1/2 ") of the Scottish Highlands - "On the Ness at the Islands" by George Washington Wilson, Inverness Catheral by J.V. and Urquhart Castle, Fort Augustus Monastry & College, Glengarry Castle, Inverarry, Oban & etc (11 in all) with 9 sepia plates of Pisa, Italy - mostly bit smalller. Bound in half leather with untitled boards which are worn. Evidence of old smoke damage (no smell) but only one plate affected. Plates mostly unfaded. Good.

Edinburgh, R & R Clark Ltd (Original edition). 1903. Grey Card Cover, 16mo - over 5¾" - 6¾" tall. An attractive booklet of 63 pages produced by the Banavie Hotel - a key stopping point along "The Royal Route" at the south west end of the Caledonian Canal. With numerous sepia photos of various local sites - Inverlochy Castle, Dark Mile at Achnacarry, etc studiously avoiding mention of the close by town of Fort William, where hotels were numerous. Also photos of the Station Hotel Mallaig and the Palace Hotel Inverness which were run by Messrs John Menzies. In very good tight clean unmarked condition - but card covers dusty - see scans. Very Good/No Jacket.

One perfin picture neatly cut out of the first "addendum" sheet - the author suggests that the dies illustrated on page 1 are an improvement on those in the text - and he suggests they be cut out and pasted over the originals. I cannot find any that have been substituted however. A perfecly useable publication. No marks or signatures - though has clearly been used with ssigns of usage of the front cover especially.
