LANG, ANDREW
A Monk of Fife Being the Chronicle Written by Norman Leslie of Pitculo, Concerning the Marvellous Deeds That Befell in the Realm of France in the Years of Our Lord MCCCCXXIX -- XXXI. Now First Done Into English out of the French by Andrew Lang ("1896")
London, Longmans, Green & Co. 1896, First Edition. Hardcover. Book, Illustrations by Selwyn Image. Original pinky brown cloth: top edge gilt, others untrimmed. Heavy spotting on prelims, faint browning to pages, very good. Historical novel about Joan of Arc. This is an example of the then common practice of "post-dating" -- the book was issued in October 1895 in time for coming Christmas season, but dated 1896. The first American edition (from the same publisher) is dated 1895, but was issued at the same time. Very Good.
