BANISTER, ARLETTE
Behind the Green Baize Door
UK, Spellmount. 2001, First Edition. (ISBN: 1862271704) Hardcover with dust jacket, 8vo over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall. Ill.: Photographs By Glyn Satterly. From the shelf in our private library. 128 pages with c. 130 B&W photographs. A behind-the-scenes look of life at Ackergill Tower, Caithness, in Scotland. Not a hotel as such, as it has no restaurant, meals being prepared especially for paying guests - for functions, reunions or houseparties for like-minded disparate groups. Includes all the usual Scottish pursuits, but unusually includes an opera house with its own kitchen. Glyn Satterley's B&W photos of the activities and bustle of what was once 'Caithness Castle' present a more modern aspect of country life. Signed to previous owner [by the author?]. Index. Fine in a Fine dust-jacket. Scarce. Fine/Fine.
